Elbingerode (Harz) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Elbingerode
Elbingerode is a town in the Harz district, in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the town Oberharz am Brocken. Elbingerode has 3,672 inhabitants (1-1-2010). ==Overview== It is situated in the eastern Harz mountain range, approximately 8 km south of Wernigerode. The municipality consists of Elbingerode proper and the villages of ''Königshütte'' and ''Rübeland''. The area around Elbingerode had been a feudal hunting ground since the Middle Ages. King Henry the Fowler stayed several times at the Bodfeld, a royal hunting lodge or ''Königspfalz'', demonstrably in 935, as did his successors of the Ottonian and Salian dynasty. Emperor Henry III died here on on an excursion with Pope Victor II. The town itself was first mentioned as ''Alvelingeroth'' in a 1206 deed, when Pope Innocent III granted it to Gandersheim Abbey.
